Porsche Panamera - future is coming
Porsche Panamera, 4 - door, 4 - seat coupe, will be released in 2008 or 2009. Porsche AG built a completely new factory near Leipzig, Germany, to produce high quality Panamera. Bodies will be produced in WV factory in Hannover. It will be front engined and rear wheel drive and powered by a modified version of the 4.5 L V8 engine found in the Porsche Cayenne, equipped with the FSI system invented by Volkswagen.

Rumours suggest that the V10 engine from Porsche's limited-run Carrera GT supercar may be offered as well, although this is still extremely unlikely given the expense of manufacturing the engine and that Porsche does not currently have a facility capable of producing a suitable number of the V10 per year.
The Panamera is overall considered to be the long-awaited next step from Porsche 989 concept from the late 1980s; some argue that it also presents itself as a suitable successor to the 2-doored 928. It will be propably marketed as a competitor to automobiles like the Mercedes-Benz CLS 55 AMG and Maserati Quattroporte and a less expensive brother to cars like the Bentley Continental GT, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti and Aston Martin Rapide.
Some sketches of the car are already unveiled by Porsche, makes Panamera a low-slung, four-door sports car with narrow side windows and nice lines. Spy shots of the Porsche Panamera driving at the Nurburgring are a more blunt car than the renderings, it looks a little like a smaller 997 Turbo.
The Panamera's name is derived like the Porsche Carrera line, from the Carrera Panamericana race.
There is still some confusion about the exact launch of new Porsche - some say it will be 2008 end, others say 2009. Probably, Porsche itself doesn't know for sure. But generally is expected to see the production version of the 2009 Porsche Panamera debut at the Geneva auto show in the spring of 2009, with sales beginning later that year, with prices stretching from $110,000-$169,000.
